McGrady: I wouldn’t think I was a real champion if I won with the Spurs in 2013

Recently, NBA star McGrady was a guest on the podcast “Club Shay Shay”.

Talking about his near win with the Spurs in 2013, McGrady said: “If I can’t contribute to the game, I don’t feel like I’m part of it. It was a great experience because I never made it to the playoffs. It was a great experience going that far and getting to the Finals with the Spurs. I loved every moment of it.”

“I wouldn’t have felt validated as the champion.”

In the 2012-13 season, McGrady entered the finals with the Spurs. The Spurs led the Heat by 3 points in the last 20 seconds of G6, but the Heat made a three-pointer by Ray Allen, which dragged the game into overtime and defeated the Spurs, and then the Spurs lost. Drop G7 and miss the championship.

In the playoffs that year, McGrady played 6 games, averaging 5.2 minutes per game, scoring 0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
